LNS Research: Quality 4.0 Impact and Strategy Handbook

Published By: SAS     Published Date: Mar 06, 2018
The most recent decade has seen rapid advances in connectivity, mobility, analytics, scalability, and data, spawning what has been called the fourth industrial revolution, or Industry 4.0. This fourth industrial revolution has digitalized operations and resulted in transformations in manufacturing efficiency, supply chain performance, product innovation, and in some cases enabled entirely new business models. This transformation should be top of mind for quality leaders, as quality improvement and monitoring are among the top use cases for Industry 4.0. Quality 4.0 is closely aligning quality management with Industry 4.0 to enable enterprise efficiencies, performance, innovation and business models. However, much of the market isn’t focusing on Quality 4.0, since many quality teams are still trying to solve yesterday’s problems: inefficiency caused by fragmented systems, manual metrics calculations, quality teams independently performing quality work with minimal cross-functional own

Do’s and Don’ts when moving to Office 365 Cloud Voice

Published By: Polycom     Published Date: Sep 09, 2016
For decades, the predominant model for deploying voice technology was on premises. However, over the past five years, the opinion of cloud-based voice services, such as Office 365, has changed dramatically. Just five years ago, the majority of businesses either felt that cloud unified communication was not viable or were taking a wait and see approach. Today, the majority of respondents are planning a minor or major cloud UC purchase. For Microsoft customers, Skype for Business in Office 365 provides an excellent alternative to a traditional premises-based deployment.

Evaluating Blade Servers for Your IT Infrastructure

Published By: Hewlett-Packard     Published Date: Aug 02, 2013
When rack-mounted servers first appeared on the scene in the 1990s, they offered considerable advantages over the behemoth boxes they replaced. Their small, standardized footprint went a long way toward making data centers easier to manage. In the ensuing decades, form factor size and compute power have had an inverse relationship. Their universal standardization earned them the nickname “pizza box” servers, and it was a key driver of the scale-out computing model popular in the early 2000s. Populating a rack of eight servers and either clustering them or implementing failover from one to the other was far easier than previously possible.

3D Printing for End-Use Production

Published By: ASME - Protolabs     Published Date: Aug 28, 2019
Over the past three decades, 3D printing has developed a reputation as an essential manufacturing process for prototype parts. Create a CAD model of your design, send it to your company’s printer, and a 3D replica will be ready in hours. Yet these parts are often little more than conceptual show-and-tell models, not durable enough for long-term use, and in some cases prone to degradation by sunlight. The winds of manufacturing are beginning to shift, however, and industrial-grade 3D printing, or additive manufacturing, is now encroaching on machining, injection molding, and other conventional manufacturing processes. This white paper explores the new and existing technology leaders in this area, and assesses the capabilities of production for each 3D printing process. Download your copy today!

The Ultimate Guide to Rapid Prototyping for Product Development

Published By: ASME - Formlabs     Published Date: Aug 28, 2019
Rapid prototyping helps companies turn ideas into realistic proofs of concept, advances these concepts to high-fidelity prototypes that look and work like final products, and guides products through a series of validation stages toward mass production. With rapid prototyping, designers and engineers can create prototypes directly from CAD data faster than ever before, and execute quick and frequent revisions of their designs based on real-world testing and feedback. Download this white paper to learn: How rapid prototyping fits into the product design process The applications of rapid prototyping from concept models to manufacturing An overview and comparison of 3D printing technologies for rapid prototyping: FDM vs. SLA vs. SLS

The Future of Model Risk Management for Financial Services Firms

Published By: SAS     Published Date: Aug 04, 2016
Banks have been using credit scoring models for over five decades, so managing the life cycle of models is nothing new. Most have had some kind of process in place to ensure the models they develop are robust, validated and monitored from a performance perspective and that decision makers have confidence in them. In recent times, however - partly in response to the credit crisis in 2008 - the discipline of model risk management (MRM) has become more formalized and rigorous, driving the need for enterprise-level model information management systems. The regulatory scrutiny being applied to them is intensifying and spreading globally, with US and European regulators leading the charge. For example, whereas regulators were previously more interested in the numbers they were provided, now more regulators want to have a core understanding of the models banks used to generate these numbers.

Bank on the Customer

Published By: IBM     Published Date: Aug 06, 2014
How customer-centric transformation can lead to deeper relationships, increased revenue and streamlined operations. Though the global economy is still sluggishly shaking off the effects of the near meltdown in 2008 and the ongoing sovereign debt crisis, banks in both the emerging and developed economies have as opportunity to manage enormous capital growth and wealth creation. But to regain customer confidence and earn their slice of the increasingly competitive market, banks must transform themselves. They must jettison decades-old, product-oriented operating models and become fully client-centric.
