It is paramount for organizations to seek out specific devices to enable different worker personas. › IT must become a trusted partner to keep security top of mind. Employees showed a lack of trust toward IT when facing an issue with their device or ecosystem. It is imperative for IT to become part of the solution and not the problem; otherwise, workers will find ways to go around security policies and fix problems on their own, putting the firm at even more risk. › Employees require a more complete ecosystem. Employees need not only devices to get their jobs done effectively but an entire ecosystem as well. Without this, businesses will fall further behind in a fiercely competitive market and lose employ

Latest Research Underscores Need for PC Lifecycle Refresh

Published By: Dell     Published Date: May 09, 2017
Productivity has become synonymous with revenue for many organizations. The theory is simple: The more your employees can get done, the more income they can generate. And yet data from the Bureau of Labor Statistics shows that the productivity level in the United States is actually fairly low, topping out at 3.1% in one quarter and going into negative digits in others over the past few years.1 This means labor productivity, measured in output per hour of labor, is low or—in many quarters—shrinking. Today, technology is all about enabling business. Organizations of many types and sizes are developing, upgrading or replacing mobile applications to reflect changes in the workplace. Across industries, employees are working more while mobile, using multiple devices. When they return to the office, they are capitalizing on more flexible work environments and approaches to work. Many organizations are facilitating this anytime, anywhere work with mobility initiatives that provide mobile devices or allow employees to use their own. They are also modifying workspace designs, creating mobile workstations and mobile “hot spots” to enable workers to easily connect to enterprise systems when they return to the office. Enabling employees to work better can help organizations boost productivity and improve customer service. The real challenge is to continue supporting new ways of working, now and in the future, without compromising security.

Tapping Multiple Cloud Vendors Delivers Clear Business Benefits

Published By: IBM APAC     Published Date: Jun 21, 2019
Companies with multicloud services are outperforming their peers on a number of metrics — and achieving the key objectives that led them to the cloud services model. Take a look at the IT ecosystem of any company today and there’s a good chance you’ll find it includes offerings from several cloud services providers. That’s certainly the case at mid- to large-sized companies with at least 500 employees, according to a recent survey conducted by IDG Research. The survey of 100 senior IT professionals found that 59% are already multi-cloud adopters — that is, using computing and storage services from two or more cloud providers. Another 31% of respondents say they plan to become multi-cloud organizations in the coming 12-24 months, with only 10% still in the “consideration” phase. The survey results also reveal interesting insights into the drivers behind multicloud adoption. The perennial desire to reduce IT costs remains important, but the respondents rate two other factors.
