Content is the New Perimeter: The Security and Regulatory Drivers for Information Rights Management

Published By: Intralinks     Published Date: Apr 13, 2015
They say content is king. But if your content isn’t protected, it’s a king with no clothes. The proliferation of mobile devices in the workplace, and the availability of cloud services designed for consumers, can lead to improper sharing of corporate data. Information that leaves your firewalls can live forever, and without adequate protection, can end up in the wrong hands. This report by Ovum takes a look at the challenges of information security and explores how a new generation of Information Rights Management (IRM) technology directly addresses the most critical concerns. Key topics include: • The threat posed by Dropbox and other consumer-grade FSS providers • The need for lifetime control of information and content • The ability to perform audits, and locate files, anywhere, and who accessed them • How next-generation IRM technology is available to add a new layer of security to every file

Conditional Access: Going Beyond Perimeter-Based Security

Published By: Jamf     Published Date: Jan 18, 2018
For decades, organizations built “walls” around their company and leveraged network perimeters as the first line of defense. But as workspaces have become more fluid, the security perimeter has changed. The concept of creating a network and protecting it by firewall may not be enough. It’s time to rethink a traditional, perimeter-based security model.

Webinar: Protecting Sensitive Corporate Data from the Full Spectrum of Mobile Risks

Published By: Lookout     Published Date: Dec 13, 2018
The world has changed. Yesterday everyone had a managed PC for work and all enterprise data was behind a firewall. Today, mobile devices are the control panel for our personal and professional lives. This change has contributed to the single largest technology-driven lifestyle change of the last 10 years. As productivity tools, mobile devices now access significantly more data than in years past. This has made mobile the new frontier for a wide spectrum of risk that includes cyber attacks, a range of malware families, non-compliant apps that leak data, and vulnerabilities in device operating systems or apps. A secure digital business ecosystem demands technologies that enable organizations to continuously monitor for threats and provide enterprise-wide visibility into threat intelligence. How to Ensure You're Not Part of the Next Botnet

Published By: Sophos     Published Date: Mar 30, 2017
With an estimated 500,000 'Internet of Things' devices using default security credentials it's little wonder that the recent Mirai botnet's DDoS attack was able to cause such widespread disruption. But it isn't just the average home-user that's at risk. Organizations like yours are being targeted with bespoke malware in order to compromise your network and add your servers and devices to malicious botnets. This paper explains why these attacks are so successful, how a typical infection takes place and what security systems your organization should have in place to defend against botnet proliferation.

Advanced Persistent Threats: Detection, Protection and Prevention

Published By: Sophos     Published Date: Mar 30, 2017
Many papers on the topic of advanced persistent threats (APTs) begin with ominous references to the changing threat landscape and stories of how highly sophisticated cyber attacks are becoming more prevalent. That can be misleading. The majority of attacks today still use many techniques that have been around for years—social engineering, phishing emails, backdoor exploits and drive-by downloads, to name the biggest ones. Such attacks are neither advanced nor particularly sophisticated when broken down into their individual components and often rely on the weakest link in any organization—the user. However, the way in which hackers use combinations of techniques and the persistent behavior of the attackers is something that does set APTs apart from other attempts to compromise security. This paper is designed to give you an overview of the common characteristics of APTs, how they typically work, and what kind of protection is available to help reduce the risk of an attack.

MobileIron Access: A simple and smart security platform for the enterprise cloud

Published By: MobileIron     Published Date: Nov 07, 2018
In recent years, the market for mobile and cloud technologies has completely shifted the behavior of enterprise users. People can now work anywhere, on any device, to access business apps and data from mobile apps and cloud services. Static, perimeter-based security can no longer keep up with all of the endpoints, users, apps, and data that travel far beyond the corporate firewall. Relying on old security approaches like password-only access control is no longer enough to secure this vast mobile-cloud infrastructure — especially since stolen user credentials were the top cause of data breaches in 2017.
