GDPR Key Changes and Actions to Take

Published By: Redstor UK     Published Date: Mar 12, 2018
The General Data Protection Regulation, is a piece of legislation that was approved and put in to place by the European Parliament in April 2016. As European Law, it will fully take effect after a 2-year transition ending May 25th 2018. GDPR, replaces the previous Data Protection Directive (DPD), adopted in 1995, and will in the UK, replace and strengthen the Data Protection Act 1998 (DPA). One of the initial differences between GDPR and DPD, is that GDPR is a regulation not a directive; as a regulation, no additional enabling legislation will have to be passed by governments of member states. Redstor have the ability to give insight into the data organisations have on their networks, advise on best practice to protect data and then implement strategies around backup, archiving and disaster recovery. Data is searchable through an intuitive console making compliance simple and achievable for all organisations protecting data through the Backup Pro Platform.

Top 12 Questions to Consider When Choosing UPS Systems for Network/Server Applications

Published By: Tripp Lite     Published Date: Jun 28, 2018
One of the fundamental decisions in the design of data centers, server rooms and network closets is which uninterruptible power supply (UPS) systems to use. You cannot be certain that the power you receive from your local utility will be suitable for your equipment, or that it will always be available. And even when you are receiving good-quality power from the utility, equipment inside your facility (such as electric motors) can introduce power problems. A network/server UPS system conditions input power 24x7 to ensure that your equipment always receives reliable power and protection from damaging and disruptive power problems. A network/server UPS system also supports your equipment during power failures, providing enough battery backup runtime to outlast shorter outages. During longer outages, the UPS system will provide enough runtime to save files and gracefully shut down systems or to ensure that equipment is powered until standby generators are ready to support the load. Powering the Hybrid Enterprise

Published By: Riverbed     Published Date: Feb 26, 2015
How can IT achieve the flexibility and agility it needs to offer multiple types of applications in multiple locations? Just as enterprises take advantage of applications hosted in multiple locations (i.e., public clouds, private clouds, or SaaS applications), they take advantage of different networks for different reasons (i.e. performance, backup, remote access). These could be MPLS links, ATM links, traditional Internet connections, or VPN lines. Enterprises, in effect, are already building hybrid networks, and those combined with the elements of hybrid clouds create the hybrid enterprise.

IT Evolution to a Hybrid Enterprise Drives the Need for Location-Independent Computing

Published By: Riverbed     Published Date: Jul 22, 2015
As enterprise computing has evolved, businesses have been shifting to a “hybrid enterprise” where core applications and data can be located in private data centers and public clouds. The growth of hybrid cloud deployments accelerated the transition to hybrid wide-area networks (WANs). Private networks, such as MPLS, are being joined by Internet connections that offer a choice in delivery channels—costly, but predictable, networks for mission-critical loads and cheaper public networks for bulk loads such as data backups.
