Software-Defined Networks: The Next Generation of Healthcare Networks

Published By: Comcast Business     Published Date: Jul 10, 2017
Healthcare technologies have proven their worth for practitioners and facilities in increasing the quality of patient care while saving time and streamlining operations. In some cases, however, the benefits of these technologies are outweighed by their impact on the network, slowing network performance sometimes to the point of ineffectiveness.Software-defined networking can be the bridge to help healthcare providers update their networks and avoid disruption. SDN helps organizations save money on networking infrastructure, reduces the complexity of managing networks, enhances security through added intelligence and simplifies compliance, among other benefits.

Solution Brief: Nothing kills attacks earlier than DNS-layer security.

Published By: Cisco Umbrella EMEA     Published Date: Oct 12, 2018
Attacks have many phases. Before launching, the attacker needs to stage internet infrastructure to support each phase. Two early phases are to redirect or link to a malicious web domain or send a malicious email attachment. For the former, most attacks leverage exploit kits (e.g. Angler) as the first stage before dropping the final payload. Cisco Umbrella effectively blocks initial exploit and phishing domains. Unlike appliances, our cloud security platform protects devices both on and off the corporate network. Unlike agents, the DNS layer protection extends to every device connected to the network — even IoT. Umbrella truly is the easiest and fastest layer of security to deploy everywhere. Solving the Information Security Crisis in Higher Education

Published By: McAfee     Published Date: Dec 04, 2014
The attacks continue. The breaches occur. Penalties are assessed. While most universities manage to keep pace with the latest digital trends, they have been far less timely when it comes defending their networks and sensitive data against the latest targeted attacks and threats. This lack of protection is evident as recent headlines expose costly data breaches of student records and research, state and federal compliance violations, and a raft of other privacy and security issues that put students, alumni, staff, and the institutions themselves at considerable risk.

Source Data for Network Security Investigations

Published By: Butler Technologies     Published Date: Jul 02, 2018
Increasingly complex networks, require more than a one-size-fitsall approach to ensuring adequate performance and data integrity. In addition to the garden-variety performance issues such as slow applications, increased bandwidth requirements, and lack of visibility into cloud resources, there is also the strong likelihood of a malicious attack. While many security solutions like firewalls and intrusion detection systems (IDS) work to prevent security incidents, none are 100 percent effective. However, there are proactive measures that any IT team can implement now that can help ensure that a successful breach is found quickly, effectively remediated, and that evidential data is available in the event of civil and/or criminal proceedings.

Spoofing Server-Server Communication: How You Can Prevent It

Published By: Symantec Corporation     Published Date: Oct 03, 2013
Advances in attacks on network security over the last few years have led to many high-profile compromises of enterprise networks and breaches of data security. A new attack is threatening to expand the potential for attackers to compromise enterprise servers and the critical data on them. Solutions are available, and they will require action by company officers and administrators. “SSLStrip” and related attacks were among the highlights of the July 2009 Black Hat show in Las Vegas. Researcher Moxie Marlinspike combined a number of discrete problems, not all related to SSL, to create a credible scenario in which users attempting to work with secure websites were instead sent to malicious fake sites.

Spotlight On The Total Economic Impact Of A Virtual Cloud Network

Published By: VMware SD-WAN by VeloCloud     Published Date: Feb 19, 2019
As organizations prioritize digital transformation initiatives, many are finding that legacy networks are holding them back. To support new business models, cloud adoption, and an explosion in connected devices, modern networks must support interoperability across data centers, multiple clouds, branch locations, and edge devices. Applications now run at every point on this spectrum, and they are critical to businesses’ ability to win in hypercompetitive marketplaces. Yet, even as business success has become more dependent on this new architecture, and the amount of data flowing across connections has increased, many organizations still lack a unified approach to management, automation, and security.

SSL Everything: Protect All of Your Website, Not Just A Few Parts

Published By: KEMP Technologies     Published Date: Aug 04, 2008
Chances are, if you’re utilizing SSL, you’re not utilizing it to its full potential. SSL is a powerful technology that can help organizations protect their data as well as their users. While the technology behind SSL is solid, the most common best practices for its implementation do not take full advantage of the benefits that SSL brings. And this may be inadequate to provide proper security to the modern web application environment.

STATE OF THE NETWORK STUDY

Published By: Butler Technologies     Published Date: Jul 02, 2018
The Tenth Annual State of the Network Global Study focuses a lens on the network team’s role in security investigations. Results indicate that 88 percent of network teams are now spending time on security issues. In fact, out of 1,035 respondents, nearly 3 out of 4 spend up to 10 hours per week working exclusively on these types of problems - in addition to managing network upgrades, SDN, cloud, and big data initiatives. When it comes to technology adoption, both cloud and 100 GbE deployment continue to grow aggressively. VoIP adoption is closing in on 60 percent and software-defined networking (SDN) is projected to cross the halfway mark, indicating compounding network complexity amidst the ongoing struggle to ID security threats. With growth comes change and some trends identified in this year’s survey include a rise in email and browser-based malware attacks (63 percent) and an increase in sophistication (52 percent). Nearly 1 in 3 also report a surge in DDoS attacks, signaling a ne
