Open Technology Solutions Highlights the Criticality of Inline Data Reduction

Published By: Pure Storage     Published Date: Jul 18, 2017
OTS' experiences with all-flash technology mirror what many customers have experienced over the past several years. Hesitatingly optimistic, OTS deployed its first AFA in a limited environment to prove the system out, and when it performed and/or exceeded the company's expectations, it quickly started moving more workloads to it over time. Like OTS, many customers do not immediately retire their legacy storage, but in moving the more demanding workloads off of their existing environments, they provide better application performance both for those applications on the AFA and for those that stay on the legacy storage. And like OTS, the majority of AFA customers have in the past year in particular come to the conclusion that all-flash technology is the future of primary storage for performance, reliability, ease of management and expansion, and economic (as measured by total cost of ownership) reasons.

Business Case for All-Flash Arrays When Integrating Flash into the Cloud

Published By: Pure Storage     Published Date: Oct 09, 2017
Over time, hybrid cloud will increasingly become the mainstream deployment model for IT infrastructure. Flash storage brings with it many benefits necessary in hybrid cloud environments, and IDC already views it as a requirement for enterprise workloads that have any performance sensitivity. This IDC white paper discusses the state of enterprise storage with respect to the evolving cloud storage market, explains why flash storage is needed in these environments, and then discusses what Pure Storage, a leading all-flash array vendor, brings to the table in this area. The document concludes with a short service provider case study.

Flashblade For Genomics

Published By: Pure Storage     Published Date: Nov 02, 2017
The evolution of genomics in recent decades has seen the volume of sequencing rise dramatically as a result of lower costs. Massive growth in the quantities of data created by sequencing has greatly increased analytical challenges, and placed ever-increasing demands on compute and storage infrastructure. Researchers have leveraged high-performance computing environments and cluster computing to meet demands, but today even the fastest compute environments are constrained by the lagging performance of underlying storage.

Innovations in All Flash Storage

Published By: Pure Storage     Published Date: Nov 02, 2017
The tremendous growth of unstructured data is creating huge opportunities for organizations. But it is also creating significant challenges for the storage infrastructure. Many application environments that have the potential to maximize unstructured data have been restricted by the limitations of legacy storage systems. For the past several years—at least—users have expressed a need for storage solutions that can deliver extreme performance along with simple manageability, density, high availability and cost efficiency.

Container Storage for Dummies

Published By: Red Hat     Published Date: Sep 08, 2017
Although many organizations still use traditional storage appliances, they don’t offer the agility needed by containerized environments. Containers are highly flexible and bring incredible scale to how apps and storage are delivered; traditional storage can be the bottleneck that stops this progress. The underlying storage should be highly elastic, easily provisioned by developers and admins, and, ideally, managed using the same orchestration framework (like Kubernetes).

Performance Management for Software Defined Networks (SDNs)

Published By: Riverbed     Published Date: Jul 15, 2014
Organizations have gained significant benefit from virtualizing servers and storage environments, and now face the daunting task of deploying new network architectures to keep pace. Software-defined networking holds significant promise to deliver a new network architecture that is abstracted and virtualized; however, organizations would be well served to learn from previous efforts to virtualize other domains in order to avoid making the same mistakes. Riverbed and VMware joined forces to help eliminate those problems and make it easier to deploy VXLAN overlay networks in highly virtualized data centers by integrating application-aware network performance management software and vSphere 5.1

Partnering with Certainty Series: Customer Demands at the Edge - Fix My Problem Before it Starts!

Published By: Schneider Electric     Published Date: Jan 26, 2018
Part 2 in our Partnering with Certainty Webinar Series, "Customer Demands at the Edge." In our last webinar, we discussed how trends & technologies like IoT and its many applications have helped drive an Always On, Always Connected mentality that has completely evolved customer experience standards. These demands are driving a need for resiliency in local edge environments, meaning compute & storage capacity is now coming back on premise for many applications – especially in industries like Healthcare, Retail, Finance, and Education. In other words, this highly distributed access layer is now becoming a compute layer – one that is mission-critical to delivering a flawless (or at least acceptable) customer experience. These environments are often make-shift wiring closets (janitor’s closets, back rooms, etc.) with no dedicated IT staff per each location. More than ever before, Healthcare, Retail, Finance, and Education customers are turning to solution providers to be that “dedicated IT staff” to find and fix problems before they start, so that the customer (or patient, or student) experience they’re working to provide remains a good one. APC by Schneider Electric has: Connected Products making it easy to remotely monitor your customers’ environments Including our NEW Smart-UPS with APC SmartConnect – the industry’s first cloud-connected UPS! A Managed Service Program to help you develop & monetize power as a managed service Fill out your information and click "Register" to watch part 2 of our Partnering with Certainty Webinar Series, “Customer Demands at the Edge: Fix My Problem Before it Starts.” This webinar originally aired on October 19th, 2017.
