The Essential VDI Guide

Published By: Box     Published Date: Jan 16, 2015
Desktop management at any scale is a tedious job. Imaging, reimaging, and troubleshooting desktop systems consume valuable IT resources, and keep employees from being productive. Securing the information generated on desktops, tablets, and smartphones is no simple job either. Many organizations are deploying virtual desktop infrastructures (VDI) for these reasons. But for deployment to be successful, computing and storage infrastructures must deliver high-quality, predictable, and productive user experiences. Often, the best way to accomplish this is through flash-based storage solutions due to its low latency/high IOPS nature. Unfortunately many IT professionals aren't sure what type of flash array is best for their needs or how to ensure that all elements of their VDI work seamlessly. Download now and learn how to validate a provide VDI configuration across NexGen N5 Hybrid Flash Array, VMWare Horizon View, Cisco Unified Computing System™(UCS), and Cisco Nexus Switches.

NexGen Hybrid Flash Array Comparison Guide

Published By: Box     Published Date: Jan 16, 2015
Looking for the right Flash Array for you? Tired of all data being treated the same but want to save time and budget? Flash storage is helping to address the latency inherent with disk drives, enabling you to virtualize more, and reduce application response times. It's an inescapable fact that the $/GB of flash is much higher than disk drives. So why do the majority of storage vendors indiscriminately accelerate all data, regardless of its value to your business? All-flash arrays waste money by storing non-critical data in flash, and hybrid arrays can't control whether mission-critical or non-critical data accesses flash, leading to unpredictable performance. So what do you do to find a solution that addresses both of these issues? Download now and see NexGen's approach to value-driven data management. Make it simple to control what data is stored in flash and affordably tailor application performance to match your organizations priorities now!

IDC Report: Cloudian HyperFile Brings Enterprise NAS Functionality Closer to Object-Based Storage

Published By: Cloudian     Published Date: Feb 15, 2018
As the volume of unstructured data created and used continues to increase rapidly, organizations are faced with challenges around data storage. In response, many new technologies — specifically objectbased storage, software-defined storage, all-flash arrays, and cloud-based storage services — are experiencing rapid adoption. Yet object-based storage has been limited by the need to rewrite existing file-based applications — a prospect that is costly and requires more manpower than is practical for many organizations. Cloudian offers both an object storage platform and more recently an enterprise file services product. When deployed together, Cloudian's products are designed to consolidate file and object data into a single repository and can enable organizations to manage environments that span the cloud as well as on-premises.

How Data Temperature Drives Data Placement Decisions—and What to Do About It

Published By: DataCore     Published Date: Apr 23, 2019
The emphasis on fast flash technology concentrates much attention on hot, frequently accessed data. However, budget pressures preclude consuming such premium-priced capacity when the access frequency diminishes. Yet many organizations do just that, unable to migrate effectively to lower cost secondary storage on a regular basis. In this white paper, explore: • How the relative proportion of hot, warm, and cooler data changes over time • New machine learning (ML) techniques that sense the cooling temperature of data throughout its half-life • The role of artificial intelligence (AI) in migrating data to the most cost-effective tier.

During the course of research efforts in the all-flash array (AFA) space, IDC is still encountering IT executives, particularly CIOs and CFOs, who have an outdated perspective on relevant cost metrics for comparing all-flash solutions with legacy hard disk drive (HDD)–based systems. In IDC's view, flash is an absolute requirement for performance reasons in any 3rd Platform computing environment. While most understand the need for flash performance, there is still a subset that does not view the broader use of flash in the enterprise as cost effective

Businesses of all sizes struggle with aging gear and lack of storage. In fact, in a 2018 Enterprise Storage Forum survey, IT and business leaders cited these concerns as their two biggest storage infrastructure challenges. But in mid- to enterprise-sized businesses, where every dollar counts, fixing these problems can feel like a tall order. If you’re going to upgrade your storage, you need to make sure you’re getting an efficient array that will help you maximize the value of your storage and your data. We tested two storage arrays to see which could best help organizations meet these goals: the Dell EMC™ Unity™ XT 880F, and an all-flash offering in the entry-level market from a competitor (“Vendor A”). In our hands-on testing, the Dell EMC Unity XT array processed up to 93 percent more input/output operations per second (IOPS) in an 8KB 100% random read test and reduced 129 percent more data. It also carried out common management tasks faster, cutting the number of deployment steps i

Transaktions- und Data-Mart- Ladevorgänge mit herausragender

Published By: Dell PC Lifecycle     Published Date: Mar 09, 2018

Published By: Dell PC Lifecycle     Published Date: Mar 09, 2018
