Published By: Group M_IBM Q2'19     Published Date: May 21, 2019
The age of digital transformation is firmly here, and with it comes a seismic shift in how businesses must operate if they intend to stay relevant and profitable. Though the role of process in digital transformation is often over-hyped, in truth, it remains a critical element in the fight to win, serve, and retain customers. In this digital age, businesses must holistically reframe their investment in process automation. In short, a compelling vision for process excellence must underpin this digital transformation, thereby transforming customerfacing processes and digitizing operational processes. The change is so profound that Forrester has renamed the category from business process management (BPM) to digital process automation (DPA). This shift, while continuing to drive down costs and drive up employee productivity, makes customer experience and digital transformation the primary success factors. This represents a powerful and necessary change of focus. In July 2017, IBM commission

Enterprise Artificial Intelligence

Published By: Automation Anywhere APAC     Published Date: Apr 25, 2019
Global corporate enterprise AI practitioners are clearly still dealing with infrastructure issues related to talent and technology. End-to-end processes remain stubbornly carbon-based. Rule-based automation is truly not yet globally scaled across the majority of organizations. Double the AI And yet, the AI & Intelligent Automation Network members went from 21%, having deployed Intelligent Enterprise solutions to over 44% in just one year’s time. Over 4/5 expect to deploy AI in under two years The stated goal for deployment is just under 83% by the end of 2020. Considering the fact that they’ve essentially got two years, and those ranks have doubled in one year – doubling again in two years is achievable. Incidentally, that same number was only 67% a year ago. 50% expect to be established, globally scaling or refining AI in under two years Global corporate enterprise is in fact slowly but surely transforming into the intelligent enterprise of tomorrow. Having said that, it will be

Eight steps to cloud-native application

Published By: Red Hat     Published Date: Mar 28, 2019
Digital business requires a culture of organizational agility, as the rapid pace of demand can only be satisfied by faster and more flexible development and delivery models. Most organizations do not have the luxury of completely rebuilding their technology foundation or immediately adopting new practices and mindsets, so they are embracing gradual yet fundamental shifts in culture, processes, and technology to support greater velocity and agility. The cloud-native approach modernizes existing applications and builds new applications based on cloud principles, using services and adopting processes optimized for the agility and automation of cloud computing.

Robotic Process Automation: Adding to the Process Transformation Toolkit

Published By: Blue Prism     Published Date: Mar 28, 2019
Robotic process automation describes the use of technology to automate tasks that are traditionally done by a human being. The technology itself mimics an end user by simulating user actions such as navigating within an application or entering data into forms according to a set of rules. RPA is often used to automate routine administrative tasks that typically require a human being to interact with multiple systems, but RPA technology is evolving to support the automation of increasingly sophisticated processes at scale within enterprise architectures rather than on the desktop. Over the past two years, RPA has been adopted by a number of business process outsourcing (BPO) providers and a growing number of end-user organizations are now deploying the technology themselves to create “virtual workforces” of robotic workers.

Oracle's Recovery Appliance Reduces Complexity Through Automation

Published By: Oracle     Published Date: Jan 28, 2019
Traditionally, the best practice for mission-critical Oracle Database backup and recovery was to use storage-led, purpose-built backup appliances (PBBAs) such as Data Domain, integrated with RMAN, Oracle’s automated backup and recovery utility. This disk-based backup approach solved two problems: 1) It enabled faster recovery (from disk versus tape) 2) It increased recovery flexibility by storing many more backups online, enabling restoration from that data to recover production databases; and provisioning copies for test/dev. At its core, however, this approach remains a batch process that involves many dozens of complicated steps for backups and even more steps for recovery. Oracle’s Zero Data Loss Recovery Appliance (RA) customers report that total cost of ownership (TCO) and downtime costs (e.g. lost revenue due to database or application downtime) are significantly reduced due to the simplification and, where possible, the automation of the backup and recovery process.
