Ensuring Quality in Automated Welding Cells - WTS

White Paper Published By: Orbitform Group     Published Date: Jan 07, 2009
A common problem related to these costs of weld quality is that they are often hidden, overlooked, or known but hard to resolve. In the worst case (and most common case) these costs of quality are simply accepted. Does that sound absurd? Yes, but it’s true. Market research revealed two items of significance; 1) most companies experience these costs and 2) these companies would take steps to prevent or reduce these costs if they could.

Economic Catalyst webcast: Four Pillars of Strategic Storage

Webinar Published By: IBM     Published Date: Dec 30, 2008
Research giant Forrester estimates that on average, data repositories for large applications grow by fifty percent annually. However, up to half of all that data can be duplicate or otherwise unnecessary. With no end in sight for the increase of raw data (both structured and unstructured), organizations must be ever more strategic about where and how to store enterprise information. Meanwhile, a tightening economy is putting pressure on costs, just as compliance mandates call for greater visibility into processes and data. What to do? Register for this Web Seminar to learn the four pillars of strategic storage, and how they can be used to simultaneously reduce costs, while improving speed, accuracy and accountability. The four pillars will be discussed in detail, with real-world examples of each: deep compression, database archiving,de-duplication thin provisioning.

Community Bank and Trust of Florida Selects AutoMate to Streamline Core Bank Processing

Case Study Published By: Network Automation     Published Date: Dec 08, 2008
Before turning to AutoMate, nightly processes were performed by running a mish-mash of batch processes manually after work hours. Even though banks typically close at 4 or 5pm, there is a lot that happens at night to get ready for the next business day. A typical night consisted of 1 or 2 persons staying until 10 or 11pm to make sure all the nightly operations, backups, file transmissions, etc. were finished and validated.

Virtualization and Disk Performance

White Paper Published By: Diskeeper Corporation     Published Date: Oct 30, 2008
Virtualization does have its dangers, as it incurs greater stress on physical resources. While under utilization of CPU may be a driving factor to virtualize servers, other hardware resources may become overtaxed. Given that a host system has limited ability (depends on application) to page memory used by the guest systems, the most recognized bottleneck to address is physical memory (RAM). Options to programmatically alleviate memory bottlenecks incur performance issues when the disk is re-introduced. Another major component and perhaps less acknowledged is the disk subsystem. In many cases, depending the purpose and application of the guest/virtual systems, the disk bottleneck will be the most significant barrier to performance. New Life for Aging Electronic Products

White Paper Published By: Orchid Technologies Engineering & Consulting     Published Date: Oct 07, 2008
As electronic product designs age, component parts become increasingly difficult to obtain.  Component buyers may experience difficulty in obtaining key parts within the design.  Component part prices may increase.  A point comes when component parts begin going end-of-life at an alarming rate.  Quick fixes are no longer sufficient.  Sometimes an OEM will procure a 'life-time' supply of problem parts – but this supply can be quickly wiped out should unforeseen demand develop.  Lack of component parts puts an end to production. There is an alternative.  Profitable, old products can be redesigned.  Either preserving the original form fit and function, or adding new features. Product redesign is a cost effective means by which to extend the life of a marketable product.

Transforming Business Continuity with VMware Infrastructure and Dell EqualLogic

White Paper Published By: VMware Dell     Published Date: Sep 29, 2008
VMware virtual machines are hardware-independent so any physical server can serve as a recovery target for any virtual machine. Organizations can significantly reduce the cost of hardware for disaster recovery by repurposing underutilized existing servers for recovery targets and disaster recovery testing. VMware Infrastructure also simplifies and accelerates recovery, helping IT organizations meet their time-to-recovery targets.
